THANK YOU! The Youth Club was fortunate to receive a grant from Cumbria Community Foundation for £1500 each year for 3 years to cover overhead costs.

Members will be fundraising for their other activities which will hopefully include karting, LaserZone, bowling, ice-skating and paint balling.

Members please come along and support your club and have a say in the activities you want.

Friday 30 January Samba drumming with the Brewery Arts, Cath Sewell.

16.1.09

Monkey Business Youth Club met and had a relaxing film night - WallE. There was an interval with popcorn and sweets.

The next Monkey Business meeting is 12 December - erecting and decorating the tree and activities.

Friday 28 November and Samba drum workshop  by Cath Sewell from the Brewery Arts Centre. she commented on how talented our members when they managed to create a whole piece of music in just one session.  There are plans to do more sessions and may be a performance at the Sports Day and Summer Fair. The truffle making was very popular with those who like creating in the kitchen and enjoyed by the drummers. The chefs also made seasonal fudge to be sold at the Village Christmas Fair on Friday.

Having applied in October 08 to Cumbria Community Foundation we have
been offered a grant of £4,794
This equates to £1,598 a year for three years subject to receipt of funding.
The funding will be used to cover the club overheads:
Insurances
Hall rental
Administration costs
Committee expenses
Sadly the young people were unsuccessful in a bid to the Youth Opportunity Fund
for a grant for activities but the group is now looking into other forms of fundraising.

14TH November

CHILDREN IN NEED PIZZA NIGHT - Wow what a night - mass activity and failing ovens!! But thanks again for your patience the children did brilliantly - and we raised over £250 for a very worthy cause....

Friday 24th October is CHOCOLATE FEST NIGHT - white and milk chocolate fruit fondues, cooking chocolate brownies, with dark games and team games to run off the calories!

Monkey Business went on a cinema trip on Friday 10th October because the village hall is being used for another event and the Church Hall was being used for the Witherslack Group Art Exhibition.

27th September 2008

Monkey Business met and the group played various games including dodgeball, basketball and other knockout tournaments. There are places available to join the club. For more information contact Stephen Ratcliffe on 015395 52524.

Are you a member - remember to come to our first session on 12th September so you can help plan activities.

If you'd like to join please come along and check it out and collect membership forms.

This is an activity you may be interested in ....Folly's Guerrilla Film-makers Workshops and Residentials http://www.folly.co.uk/node/1191.  Looks like a nice opportunity I reckon.

The Youth club and MusicLinks will be meeting on 12th September 2008 and then alternate Fridays until half term in the Parish Hall at 7pm

·         A chance to meet , chat and plan for Christmas and Youth Club events in 2008/9 – what do you want to do?

CONISTON BOATING CENTRE – FRIDAY 18TH July 2008

Coniston Boating Centre by minibus and use of kyaks, Canadian canoes, motorboats and rowing boats.

16.11.07

This was a very busy meeting. Most of the members were occupied producing pizzas for Children In Need. They were gorgeous and very well received by the community. £270 was raised - well done all!! The response was so good that maybe we'll do it again - Comic Relief next.... watch this space.

On the same night the youngsters made and filled 10 Christmas Boxes which are distributed by the Samaritans to deprived children in eastern Europe. These boxes mean so much to these children, even the shoe box becomes a 'treasure' for them. So thank you to the members for thinking of others and maing a real difference. Irene and Tony Brennand are the co-ordinators for our area and delivered them to the distribution warehouse on Monday. Over 8,500 boxes have been collected this year in the south Cumbria area.

5.10.07 Monkey Business Youth Group held its regular meeting with over 25 members attending. Some of the group planned their programme for the next few months which will hopefully include trips to Laserquest, the climbing wall in Kendal and fund raising for Children in Need. Lynn Williams from Young Cumbria also attended helping small groups of members plan specially funded projects which range from trips to Go Ape at Grizedale to Snowboarding at Rossendale.

WE ARE CURRENTLY REVIEWING OUR MEMBERSHIP - IF YOU NO LONGER WISH TO ATTEND OR WOULD LIKE TO JOIN FOR THE FIRST TIME PLEASE CONTACT MANDY METCALFE ON 52410 - she will issue a form for completion.

A REMINDER TO MEMBERS - if 3 consecutive clubs are missed without good reason then your membership could be passed to someone on the waiting list.
