VACANCY FOR A COUNCILLOR
WITHERSLACK WARD

  1. There is a vacancy on the above Council caused by the resignation of Councillor Philip Coatesworth
 
2.    A bye-election to fill the vacancy will be held if within 14 days (not counting a Saturday or Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Good Friday, or a Bank Holiday) from the date below 10 electors for the parish give notice in writing claiming such an election to the Returning Officer.

  1. The address of the Returning Officer is
Kendal Town Hall, Kendal.  LA9 4DA.

  1. If no such notice is given the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.

​Following on from our November 14th post about the Parish Land we are sorry to report we have experienced extensive IT problems. As a result, a significant number of enquiries, as well as our replies to those enquiries, have disappeared. This means that we cannot be sure that we have a complete picture of the interest, or that we have responded to everyone who has been in touch.
Rather than risk perpetuating what looks a bit of a mess at the moment, we have decided to ask everyone to resend their original email to me: [pcoatesworth@hotmail.com] and the Parish Clerk: [kevtherev7@hotmail.com], and we will plan to revert by early in the New Year, with individual responses as appropriate. Everything will then go for discussion at the January Parish Council meeting after which we will map out a way forward reflecting interest across the board.

​The Parish owns several plots of land and we’d like help in deciding what to do with them.
The plots vary in size from almost dining table proportions to as much as 1.75 acres and we have a responsibility to maintain them, as well as provide insurance against potential liabilities. In other words, they have a cost, but not any real income. The attached maps and schedule give some explanatory location and Land Registry detail for the individual parcels.
They are all part of the Parish and have either a historical value or potential for wildlife encouragement, or both. In some cases, neighbouring land owners may be interested in purchasing plots.
All in all there’s an obligation to do something useful with the land as well as maximise any realisable value and that’s where the Parish Council would really like to hear people’s views.
