Big beasts, little birds
Come to an evening of African sunshine on Saturday 30th November at 7.30pm in St. Mary’s, Crosthwaite to raise money for the refurbishment fund. Dorothy Grace will be giving an illustrated talk on two African National Reserves: Etosha in Namibia and Chobe in Botswana. The two contrasting areas feature a wealth of wildlife and not a little drama… Admission is £5 (on the door) but if you would like to give more towards the refurbishment please do! Actually, the birds are not all little – the goliath heron is huge!
kind regards,
Michael Woodcock

This great organisation has sadly drawn it’s last breath. For generations the committee organised many key and very popular social gatherings so vital to rural communities like ours. Times change and so do the needs of the community with the focus now upon the parish hall and school, which are so vital to our heritage and fabric, the sports committee no longer has the support that it once enjoyed. However, the youth club is a marvellous and very successful spin off from the Sports Committee and after 8 years is a thriving group providing a place for our 20+ young people to meet and enjoy activities together.
The Sports Committee records will go to the Cumbria County Council Archive. If anyone out there has any information which is of interest please can you call 52186 and we’ll arrange to have it put into safe keeping.
Thank you Steph Fry
