 Witherslack Vengetable Show takes place on Friday 28 August at 7.30pm at Witherslack Parish Hall.

The Mayor of Lancaster, Jon Barry, has chosen St. John’s Hospice as his charity of the year and he came up with the idea of doing a sponsored bike ride around the newly opened Morecambe Bay Cycle Way in one day towing his Mayoral Trailer – otherwise known as the “Mayormobile”.
The route should pass through Witherslack at around 12pm. The timings are: Depart Walney Island - 7am Ulverston - 9am Grange Over Sands -11.30am Silverdale - 13.45 pm Lancaster Millennium Bridge - 15.30pm Glasson Dock 16.30pm – finish Join The Morecambe Bay Partnership for a day of woodland conservation work, pulling up Himalayan Balsam in Meathop Quarry & Woods.

Those up for the challenge can choose between timed mountain trail biking routes of 25km or 40km. The specially designed courses use bridleways, off-road tracks and exclusive trails on private land, which will be available for this day only, making it a unique way to experience biking through the area. The event is one in a series being held to raise money for a range of important improvements to the school. Under-16 riders are welcome with an accompanying adult.
