Ospreys have returned to Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve near Witherslack this Spring.

They successfully bred at the site for the first time in Summer last year and raised three healthy chicks. With luck, they will breed again this year! Cumbria Wildlife Trust is working hard to give them the safe haven they need after their long flight from West Africa.

Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve is a site of Special Scientific Interest and an internationally rare lowland raised peatbog. High and stable water levels are essential to the health and long term future of the bog. Unfortunately, this bog has suffered in the past from a steady lowering of water levels and a gradual deterioration of the peatland and its wildlife.
You can visit Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve for free. Work to install board walks is ongoing but visitors can get to the raised viewing platform and enjoy stunning views whilst getting closer to nature.
